The My Travels application package is a set of interactive applications designed for work with adults and seniors, particularly people with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and various forms of dementia.
The applications allow users to take virtual journeys to different countries around the world, combining educational, cognitive, and physical activity elements. Participants learn about the culture, history, landmarks, and traditions of selected countries, solve quizzes, and complete interactive tasks that engage memory, attention, and motor coordination.
The materials and lesson scenarios were developed in cooperation with specialists from the Alzheimer’s Centre in Warsaw.
Description
The My Travels package was created to support the cognitive, emotional, and physical activity of adults and seniors. It is particularly useful in working with people with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, and Parkinson’s disease.
The applications allow participants to embark on virtual journeys to different countries, exploring their culture, history, landmarks, and traditions. The interactive format of the activities engages users through images, sound, and movement, making the experience more attractive and motivating.
The theme of travel also encourages recalling memories and sharing personal experiences related to travelling and discovering the world. This may support the activation of autobiographical memory and promote social interaction among participants.
Package contents
The package includes five applications that enable interactive journeys to different countries:
- Journey to Egypt
- Journey to France
- Journey to Spain
- Journey to Italy
- Journey to Poland
Each application presents characteristic elements of a given country – landscapes, landmarks, music, cuisine, and cultural facts.
During the sessions participants can:
- locate countries on the world map
- solve themed quizzes
- learn key information about the culture and history of each country
- discover famous landmarks and places
- complete interactive movement-based activities
- take part in relaxing and music-based activities
Lesson scenarios and worksheets
The package also includes materials supporting therapeutic sessions – lesson scenarios and a set of worksheets thematically related to the applications.
These materials were developed in cooperation with specialists from the Alzheimer’s Centre in Warsaw and are adapted to the needs of people with neurodegenerative diseases, supporting the work of therapists.
Prepared lesson scenarios help plan sessions, define therapeutic goals, and adapt activities to the abilities of participants. The worksheets allow sessions to be extended with manual, cognitive, and creative tasks.
Suggested activities include:
• memory and association exercises
• logical and language tasks
• riddles, puzzles, and mazes
• artistic and manual activities
• exercises related to the symbols and culture of particular countries
The tasks offer varying levels of difficulty and can be used in both individual and group work.
